Why You Rushing For?
Patience has led us to success
Patience is truly a virtue that is hard for every creative to understand. We work endless hours and a ton of tiring nights just to see our art pay off in some form of utility. We think it must always pay in monetization, but for me these days, if I can get someone one to listen to me for about 2 hours that’s a mission accomplishment.
It’s been a huge journey to do this creative entrepreneurship, but I won’t quit neither will my family allow me too. The process of these things take time. However, we are always caught in the cycle of trying to want it quick. Shoot. It took me 4 years to see a check mailed to my house that stated to Guided by Obas haha. When I opened that envelope, I told my mom, this what I do and want to do.
Two creatives who has taught me this significantly is 500k and my roommate, Bobby Manning.
Last week as 500k celebrated one of his major Ws as he was able to monetize off his DJ, which allowed him to take two weeks off of work.
Bobby Manning has worked steadily at CLNS Media and Boston Globe. As much as he consumes me every day with Celtics content haha (Nets Fan), I am stupid proud that he is covering his first NBA Finals, which has been a dream of his.
So to both of them, we give them love and hope to inspire others!
You can catch 500k DJayin’ at Local 138 in Lower East Side (Thursdays, Friday or Saturdays 10pm to 3am) and beginning next month Cove Lounge in Harlem (TBD on times as well) . You can follow Bobby Manning on Twitter, @TheRealBobManing .
Do It Ourselves in LA :
James, Freon, and Raf are all respected creatives within their markets. We brought people from Florida, Illinois, Colorado, California, and New York into one space to celebrate the art and business side of the music. It was so amazing that the owner of the space asked us if we could do it again every month haha. You know if we could we would, but our houses are not in California.
Extremely thankful for these three individuals for investing in themselves and the creative industry. Tap In with them as they are amazing, hardworking individuals.
Joel Stevenson: Act I Release Party
Traveled this weekend to Alabama to see Joel Stevenson, a recording Hip-Hop artist. Sitting at the airport currently, I am just like every place has potential to be a creative market. Joel Stevenson brought it back for his home with food and family after our trip from LA.
Managed by Good Vibes MI, Joel has been an amazing artist I have had the pleasure to get to know. He has all elements of an artist from word play to crowd control.
He just released his project, and it is true body of work. One of my favorite songs off the tape is Clouded Skies, and there is a video for it as well. Let’s get ready to bump Act I and give Joel a warm welcome to the family by viewing his video below.
Welcome to The Madhouse
Nikmoody has been working on this album for 1.5 years now, and it is finally coming out. The dualities of this album is really pieced together perfectly. It is the true definition of who Nikmoody is and can’t be prouder. This is his first album, and if you know Nik, he can give you a body of work. When Selina, Bebe, and I came together in 2020, the album had so many different ways of being told. Now, it is solidified and you get to hear it told one on June 30th! Are YOU READY?
Zenith Summit Recap:
You had to be there. I was reaffirmed about my marketing strategies as I consult brands and artists while also learning so much more about public relations and marketing. It was extremely informative and inspiring. RJ Stewart plans on having it every year, and listen I will be there whether I am a speaker or a guest. If you missed the opportunity to network or learn, well here is the recap below. Tap In.
Wrap-Up
One of the things I need to get back to doing is writing some medium blogs. They weren’t meant to be like a oh go read. It was a like a journal for me to express some of the things that I had experienced.
I had revisited an amazing article I wrote about how our goal may not be accomplished today, but if we work hard we can achieve it with patience. I leave you with this as a final read because I genuinely think my goals are not yet there, but if I keep reminding myself everyday about those goals, I will achieve them.
GOALs are Timeless…. Be Patient
