Who is Ready for Kota The Friend? E Madonna, Kick it off for the night - Obas
You know what was so funny about this interaction. I actually knew the DJ/producer haha. It took me two nights of an amazing tour to be like I know you haha. E Madonna is Matt Madonna’s younger brother and if you been following my journey, he shot the “Time Bomb” video where I played this corporate employer, and I was chasing Nikmoody. In addition, I had met E Madonna when Nikmoody opened for Kota at SOBs in 2018. I didn’t even realize it haha.
The two nights was amazing as all the hard work I put into the artists I work with, the brand I establish, and the spaces I created came in full circle. People recognized my voice on the mic at Sony Hall, one of the biggest venues in NYC. I was reunited by so many indie artists and influencers in NYC as ShaSummers, Hello O’Shay, and Iso Indies took the stage. It was truly a beautiful site to see.
With so much inspiration in the last two weekends, I think I am going to announce it here. I just submitted my presentation to SXSW 2023. The presentation will talk about live performance and how I found a fourth way to generate income doing live performances. In between now and then, you will have Volume 2 and 2 things in your hands. The goal is to have all 3 projects ready for you by March of 2023. I am holding myself accountable to it. Voting for this opportunity begins August 9th, and we will need your vote to push it.
Welcome to The Madhouse:
Truly blessed to be surrounded by so many creatives at The Madhouse Release Show. This photo is going to get framed on my wall. It was my first time hosting with Bebe. She is an amazing journalist who aids artists in press releases, electronic kits, and many more. Her presence in the room adds motivation and ambition to her audience , and I felt it amongst all the starving artists that was present. In addition, this was first time that everyone from Nik’s project gathered in one room. It is hard to get one artist from your project but every single one is MAD. It felt amazing listening to their music individually. I want to thank Leigh, Nikki Silva, and J SOS for opening up the show with amazing energy as they play an integral part to the album. For Nikmoody, he continues to do what he does, and there is no shocker that he is going places.

Young Entrepreneurs:
Each year, I have the pleasure of going back to my high school and teaching entrepreneurship to rising 8th graders. It is truly one of the most amazing things to see children at that age think about starting their own business. It really puts a smile on your face when you see they are not waiting. They are doing the thing. There was a ton of innovative ideas that came from this class. We had someone creating an all-in-one sound system where you can play CDs, vinyls, and cassettes. We had someone creating light that would clean off the bacteria on a specific product. Great ideation period all around. My goal is that these young entrepreneurs will continue their ideas beyond the space that I created. So excited for the future that awaits them.
Brunch on Sunday
It’s been a month since we started, Brunch on Sunday. Every Sunday, DJ 500k and I are at Cove Lounge in Harlem enjoying an amazing meal while listening to some 90s Rhythms and Blues or disco or funk music. We are joined by other entrepreneurs and creatives to network and collaborate on future projects. It is completely fun, and we do it where all the fun is. We invite you to come out because you will meet likeminded people who are willing to aid you in your creative journey.
NYS Music is one of those creative companies who have aided us in our journey. They featured Brunch on Sunday on their website. Thankful for their feature. Everyone is invited for brunch, so invite your friends and family. Let’s eat Red Velvet Waffles and Chicken and find those like-minded creatives and further our journey.
Empire State Festival:
We are one week away from one of the biggest festivals in New York and I am excited to be going to it. Kerry Blu, founder of Empire State Festival, has been putting in the work. He went to London and Finland earlier this month. Now, he is throwing an amazing festival in NYC with panel speakers, industry mixer, and many more. It’s August, so you know I usually take my social media break. This year will be slightly different because I have to stay on periodically just to do small promotions and etc. It is very tough when form of communication is focused on digital marketing, but we will strive. This photo was taken by a good friend, Arthur. He told me, “Obas, you have a voice. Please use it to inspire.” These were probably the best words someone could have said to me. I know I’m going places, and I’m doing it with the people I love.
Im just a few steps away from where I need to accomplish this year goal. We got some things in the making and hoping to make it possible, by being patient. Thank you all and truly thanks for reading this every month.
