In my first 5 years working within the entertainment world, I faced one lingering problem. This problem would occur frequently, yet I had no solution for it. The problem was momentum. I couldn’t seem to drive momentum to the point where each move I made connected to the next move. I would either have a ton of moves or the moves wouldn’t stick. The moves could be displayed on a graph as scatter points, but those points wouldn’t connect and stick forever. It was until June 15th people saw “The Tipping Point”.
On June 15th, I didn’t even have to say a word. I was receiving responses from the crowd like, “This is giving tour vibes” and “You need to buy a sprinter.” I was truly blessed to hear that. The artists showed out that day, and it was truly beautiful to see. The momentum I needed was occurring. People were getting exactly what I am trying to accomplish without any. It is exactly what Malcolm Gladwell was talking about in his book. Now, I must allow the momentum to spread gradually and become infectious like a disease.
The Journal
Every creative should have a journal with them at all times. It is the thing that aids us to create, process, and reflect. It holds some of our deepest desires and ambitions. The journal is the space where we wrestle with ourselves and only ourselves. However, what happens when the journal talks back?
Steven Mena, a filmmaker from the Bronx, captured one of my biggest fears as he created the short film called, The Journal. The Journal is an amazing thriller, and I am excited to have acted in the short film. The short film is available on Youtube and Vimeo for one to watch.
127 Creative Brunch
“We get caught in trying to chase all of our passions when we need to focus on one,” said Zsari d'Javanneh Delaney. This quote resonated with me and the audience of Carrolton, Texas as we broke down the true meaning of what multi-passionate is. This day was beyond beautiful as everyone was willing to learn from each other. We gathered together through prayer, food, and performances to appreciate everyone’s creative journey. It very important to understand that no matter what lifestyle you choose, you will always be a creative. Continue your path and take the risk. Thanks Z’sari for this amazing opportunity.
WizardFest
Here comes another month of wizardry! I swear it gets stranger and stranger at these events. The team went down to North Carolina in June, and someone bought a live owl to the event haha. I swear I needed to call the ministry of magic for real this time. I genuinely love hosting Wizardfest. We are moving to Syracuse, Poughkeepsie, and Mechanicsburg this summer to give you one of the funniest times you can experience. If you are in the areas and want to stop by and experience the fun, crazy times, then let us know. RSVP below.
Final Thoughts:
Thank you everyone for giving me your responses on the cover for Volume 2. We decided to go with yellow cover as it appealed to many. You will definitely see the book this year, but when? Stay tuned in with the release of it. Until now, I believe you deserve the back excerpt of the book. This comes from the back of the book. Please let me know what you think! I am always looking for feedback as this rollout is going to be amazing. Thank you all and let’s chase our creativity.
The music business is an ever-changing industry. Cultural, social, and technological factors change the landscape. These factors can either elevate a musician’s career or hurt it. Music business experts must figure out how we can make it easy for you to establish a sustainable career that is elevating and evolving. Each volume is composed of personal experiences/observations, case studies, and more to figure out a clear, defined way for musicians to reach sustainability within this complicated entertainment world.
When you open Volume 2, you enter my complex mind. You will be lost between chapters as you try to draw your conclusion on topics like streaming, live performances, or business structure. You will find terms never heard before, and these terms will seem unfamiliar. However, the most important thing you will discover when reading is how accessible these resources are. The people I work with and the platforms they have created are based on authenticity and clarity. With these values as the focus of Volume 2, you will define your direction. The only question I have for you is:
What direction will you take?
