May 8th was by far one of the most tiring days this month. I had just came from Philadelphia the night before, and I had to make my way to Long Island for a rehearsal and a photoshoot. I had to drop the rental off the same morning and catch the LIRR all before 9:30am. As I was getting dress to drop off the rental, I had no idea the theme of the photoshoot or what to wear. I just looked through my closet and just threw a couple of fits together. My vision that day was so blurry, and my brain was on autopilot. For me, this chaos would’ve made me anxious a few years back if I didn’t focus on improving myself 1% each day.
I have changed these last 5 years. I went from someone who would just pile on everything to becoming someone who handles things at the moment. I was doing everything and all things at once because I knew that I needed to give it all. The problem that I faced was that I didn’t improve. My focus was just all over, and I didn’t pinpoint where exactly I needed to be better at.
Inspired by this thought process, I was able to collaborate with Henry Rubio on this recent photoshoot. The main goal of this shoot was to showcase a slight improvement in fashion for me as it has been one of my weaknesses for years. With the power of thrifting and love of small business, we were able to showcase gradual improvement in myself through wardrobe, setting, and shot selection. The better me is yet to come, but I am thankful I am loving myself and have improved the slightest.
All for the Music
5 years ago, I did my first event in Harlem. It was probably one of the best events I have ever curated. There were just a ton of things I was blessed to have in my pocket that a ton of other curators didn’t. I was only 20 at the time, so I couldn’t really process what was going on. I went back to the same format of that night for June 15th at Shrine with new improvement and a bigger goal. The goal is to make Shrine one of the center spots for artist development for these next 5 years.
I hope to accomplish this on June 15th by tracking fans and followers of each act, researching people’s feedback, and then drawing conclusions on how each act can improve for their next step within their career. This night isn’t so much about the artists, but the music industry. If we can put the ball game in the artists hand, how many will score a point? Let’s see. FREE ALL NIGHT, PULL UP!
Creative Brunch: 127 Vision
How about those Cowboys? The Cowboys are probably preparing for me to come down there and take Dak Prescott to this Creative Brunch hosted by 127 Vision. Well, they better offer me a max contract after because this event is going to be one for the century. This Creative Brunch welcomes all of the creatives in Dallas to come together and network. Networking is something that 127 Vision cherishes, so it’s important that every creative is there. I will be emceeing the event, so if you know anyone in Dallas that will benefit off this event, tell them to slide. It’s going to be fun.
Deal With It (Version B)
One thing I learned from Zack Snyder is that you gotta have more shots that can change the interpretation of a short film or a movie. I rewatched Justice League before filming this short as a catapult for releasing Version B. This version has a different twist to Version A that came out exclusively on Tivid TV earlier this year. Definitely check out Version B, and if you want to support you can purchase Version A below.
Wizard Fest
I swear if you were to tell me 3 years ago that I would be talking to a bunch of wizards and magical creatures as a career, I would tell you that I have lost my mind. I can’t even lie to you these events have been some of the wildest nights haha. People just love dressing up randomly and getting lost in a night they have no idea what is in tune. Let’s see how North Carolina gets as I travel down there for another magical night tomorrow.
Conclusion: Sacrificing The Normal
Sacrificing a normal life isn’t easy. Your time schedule is completely off. You are making your own schedule. You can be off Monday- Wednesday, and then Thursday- Sunday you are moving around all places. A ton of people will not understand this as this looks completely abnormal. However, you have to remind yourself that you can’t be the only person going through this. This is how I met Wendie Veloz, owner of the Social Impact Level Up. On her latest episode with me, we talked about how our journey has turned in a different direction. We had to sacrifice brunch, sleep, and many more. We both agree that the best way to navigate through it all is just wake and improve by 1%.
