Introduction

Great people influence us in the smallest, most unexpected ways. Often, they come into our lives so naturally that, years later, we can’t quite remember how we even met. But once we do, we begin to share experiences, and over time, we adopt pieces of their values. We start to laugh at the dad jokes because we finally understand them. These are the people we look up to forever.
Tom Gibbons was one of those people for me—someone with whom I grew every time we met. From our summer basketball games back in 2014 to the unexpected meetups at Syracuse University, and even the honor of teaching his son, Tom was always a man who served others. He was the spark in every room. People were drawn to his energy, his work, and his spirit. We made the perfect duo whenever we were together.
No matter how much time passes, great people leave a lasting impact. Their work is timeless. Their legacy lives on through the lives they touched. I’m deeply grateful for people like Tom and the work they poured into others. Now, I carry that work with me, wherever I go, making sure that everything I do reflects the light they brought into this world.
Thank you to my people! I will always look up to the work you do as it brings more life to me.

Rhythm+Roots brings together powerhouse DJs Gardy Girault accompanied by a special guest, Thando, Jack Rooster, and MC Jaboin for an unforgettable night of Afro-Electronic music. Our night will be hosted by artist and dancer TANY ORA, known for her electrifying presence and dynamic performance style. We will also be joined by artist and musician Okai on percussion— expect rhythms that will move your soul. Whether you're deep into Rara Tech and Afro House or just curious, come dance, connect, and celebrate. Expect immaculate vibes, an open bar all night, and a lineup that'll keep the floor moving.
The Industry: Becoming The Villain
Becoming the Villain has come with its share of highs and lows, but it’s helped me clearly see what’s worth my time—and what isn’t. I’ve taken on projects and so-called “opportunities” that, in the end, turned out to be more of an expense than an investment. Sometimes, you have to dive in with both feet and then step back to evaluate every move you’ve made. You have to track your work closely—because not everyone will appreciate it the way you do.
But keep going. Keep finding your way. That path you’re on? It’s going to return to you in numbers—and then some.
I’m excited to announce that The Industry will be airing on Roku TV within the month! We’ve officially locked in a distribution deal with Vanta Black TV, and I’m celebrating this monumental moment with deep gratitude. Big love to Steven and David for guiding me in the right direction.

Conclusion

These last couple of weeks have been really difficult for me. I’ve been dealing with a lot—career decisions, life changes, and personal turmoil. It’s taken a toll on my mental health to the point where I almost had a Tony Soprano moment. Each day felt like getting hit with punch after punch.
But the one thing I didn’t do was fold. I kept looking up and leaned into what’s been working: hosting and facilitating. This month alone, we’re booked for 15 emcee gigs. We’re also helping to facilitate major plays—creating opportunities for people to earn income and rethink what it truly means to be an artist.
Writing about this puts a smile on my face. It helps me forget the obstacles and reminds me of why I do this. It makes me hungrier, more focused, and more determined to get it done.
Keep looking up. Count your blessings. Your blessings come in the form of your art, your community, and—most importantly—yourself.
