Introduction:
You can move far with your dreams! The reason is that no one is holding you back and making you think about your decisions. You also do not have to worry about the other factors that affect your destination. However, this journey of chasing your dreams gets uglier over time. Self-doubt, burnout, and more keep us from getting where we need to be. As a result, we fall! Sometimes, it can be at a rate faster than we expect. How does one get back?
OUR PEOPLE! I am blessed to have known some exceptional individuals over the years. These people have supported me since I was running around with a heavy diaper! I got a chance last week to reconnect with my childhood friend from Pre-K and an alumni from my old high school. Both were teammates of mine through track and football. We had a blast of a time growing up, yet we managed to stay in connection. The one message they both told me was to keep going! Hearing those words, I became struck with determination as I made it my goal to accomplish new heights, and let all the reserved strength go. This year is promising, and I can’t help but feel that this is the year.
Karaoke Wednesdays
Nothing gets me more hype and moving than a karaoke night. As most of you know, I emcee part-time and host many events related to music. Karaoke is a great way to bring friends and co-workers together for fun. On the 1st Wednesday of the month, DJ 500K and I will be at Smoke and Mirrors Astoria with Karaoke on Wednesdays. Karaoke Wednesday isn’t ordinary karaoke, as we will have entry prizes. Prizes can include cash giveaways, discounts on food, complementary materials, and more. All you need to do is come and sing it to us. The event will go from 7 pm til midnight. The plan is to start karaoke at 7 pm and end around 10:30 pm. It’s going to be a situation. Don’t miss this great time.
The Industry
This short film has one more episode to be released, and it only picks up the conversation about the discomfort of the music industry. I plan to release the next episode in March. The rest of the season will be available via Tivid TV. I am going into the following stages of this rollout, producing the next five episodes and launching a product you all have been waiting for. I am excited to conquer this year. It’s already shining brighter than you think.
Wizard Fest in Texas
Nothing starts a year without spells cast. WizardFest is the perfect place to do that, as I spent an entire week in Texas jumping off stages, singing songs, and laughing at jokes. I continue to do WizardFest because it allows families and friends to be themselves and dive into their love of magic. Kids and adults were having a great time from start to finish, and I couldn’t help but give it my all in this business. This Wizard Fest was one of my memorable runs, and it reminded me why I picked up the mic in the first place. It was to make people laugh and happy.
Conclusion
Funny, I found this image of me 7 years ago at my first photoshoot. 2018 was a year when the world felt lighter, and I focused on one thing. I could sit on a bench and not have to think about how I will stretch a dollar. These weren’t simple times, yet they were much more straightforward than now when one has to worry about so much from the external world. Our anxiety is rolling at a high as many people are concerned about what the world may look like. I sit down today to write this newsletter, reminding myself to take it day by day and continue to imagine a place where my dreams will flourish and others will be inspired. Remember, your dreams don’t always come true in one place. Let’s get to it this year.
