Introduction:
Being a Boss is completely different from BEING A LEADER! These newsletters help push everyone’s innovative ideas and spread them around to whoever is a true support of these newsletters. I thank everyone who sits down and read these every month.
As I continue to work on my personal content, I got to be active somehow. What’s a better way to do it than through other’s creativity. That is the mysterious brand known as Guided by Obas. You have to find out what my role is in the development of businesses and creatives. I am going to start showcasing that as well in my portfolio as we start the new year and make massive leaps to invest in the business.
I am very excited for you to see the work that is going to come. It is going to drain me all the energy I have, but hey, it is better to do it now than regret later.
Luna Legacy and Friends:
London, a sight to see and a place of love. Selina Hannaford, owner of Luna Legacy, has inspired me so many times, but this event was just a work of execution and beauty. So many people came to support her vision: Creating Community through Luna Legacy. Through spoken words, panel discussions, and artist performance, Selina was able to put on an event where even the bartender was enjoying himself at work haha. It really brought tears in my eyes a little bit to see a close friend and amazing human being who took a risk on me and herself two years ago, really bridge the gap between New York and London. Here are some photos from the night, and you can subscribe to the page to see some of the amazing performances from Nikmoody, Kdotmelody, Nutty P, and many more.
UAC Management x Guided by Obas:
I really don’t know how to utilize Linkedin like that haha. However, over the past 2 months, I was hired for my services in artist management and consulting for this U.K. company called UAC Management. I have had a very fun time no lie. Working with a small team with a ton of artist has been interesting. The only issue is time zone. I think I have to move to Pacific Time or U.K. time to make it work haha. It has been fun and a ton of learning for Guided by Obas. Here is some photos of the work I’ve done in the 2 months with bands touring and helping with cover art.
Don’t Need that Energy Video Shoot:
I swear people want me to have many hats. However, one hat I always love is aiding artists and other creatives with shot list and story boards to their music video or project. Bert G had reached out to me 2 months ago about a music video he wanted to shoot for his single Don’t Need That Energy Video Shoot. How could I say no haha? We ended up creating the story board, shot list, and a night full of moments. I am putting an exclusive clip to the night here and definitely want ya to see how fun we had. Music video debuts next month! Make sure to follow him for updates. Big ups to Dave for the BTS footage and photos
The Lingo Interview:
Omari and ATM host an amazing podcast called The Lingo based in Brooklyn. On this podcast, Omari and ATM find out how creatives work within their perspective fields while discussing various industry trends. On this episode, I had the pleasure of being a guest and discuss my journey as a manager. I was able to talk about my past mistakes as a manager and how I’ve become a better support for the artists I work with on a daily. I know I am not perfect, but shoot I can try to aid artists as best as I can as they shift their music into a career.
Black Folks Story Feature:
Man, this story is massively important to me. This speaks of a young Obas finally making the initiative to invest in himself. All I could think about was trying to get paid as an athlete. I would train day and night for track and football to see the day that I get paid as an athlete. All that training and competition built the discipline for me to be better in life, but it didn’t pay me at all! This post recalls the training I did for the music industry, and how one night at Harlem Nights really set the path for me to be better. Big ups to Rashid Powell for this amazing aid for me to write about.
