Introduction
2023, I am very thankful for you and everything it taught me. There were so many things I was trying out for the first time. I began emceeing heavier as another source of income, and I traveled every month to do something relating to it. I found my love for film again whether as an actor, director, writer, and etc. I came up with various different tests within the spaces that lead to more opportunities. All of these things felt very refreshing and tasteful, and it was giving me a ton of light to keep going.
I needed a restart going into my 6th year within the entertainment space. The reason for this is stagnation. I was carrying a ton of projects on my back, and I didn’t have any momentum to go forward for myself. I was taking on too many responsibilities on top of the ones I had for myself as an adult. So what did I do? I unloaded my ship this year, and we dived into other realms in the entertainment world to understand the intersection between music and x. I want to tell you everything that is going to happen in 2024, but it’s just a timing thing. This time next year, you will see my family and I in so many different places just because I took some time to balance on the journey.
Wizard Fest
What a year of hosting these magical events! Wizard Fest has become one of the most interesting things I have gotten into. Wizard Fest is really for people who want to escape their ordinary lives and step into a world where they can freely be themselves in the oddly. It is easy to target these people because they have a love for magical movies like Harry Potter, Fantastic Beast, Lord of The Rings, and more. It is easier to get random people to these spots since you are finding something they know and are fans of. I have done these events with 30 people in the room, but then I have done it with 200+ people. Each time I do it, I deliver laughter, smiles, and people enjoy their time at the event for the most part. (can’t make everyone happy lol) The year 2024 is about really blending Wizard Fest with some of the things I do for artists.
Holiday in Palisades
One of my favorite projects to work on this month, Holiday in Palisades. It was a day of games, music, and fun. I didn’t do much preparation for this event as I had built it in within two days before the actual event. Why? I have done a ton of emceeing this year where I can work with any crowd. The goal of an emcee is to keep the crowd engaged throughout the whole event, which is something that is missing within the music space. We started at 1p.m. and people were there til we got off the stage at 3p.m. The main highlight for me of this event were the kids. The kids wanted to participate in every aspect. They got on stage and danced with Infinity. They wanted to learn how to DJ from 500k. They sung lyrics when I passed them the mic. When you can do family-orientated events successfully, then the money doesn’t come at the moment. It comes with private bookings later on. This was our first time doing something like this, yet people was messing with it and asking when the next one haha. My plan is to continue this kind of curation and see where it lands us in the near future. I know it can only lead to better and more amazing gigs.
Under One Roof
Under One Roof weekend was definitely fun. I had a chance to bond with Klassik Poet, Indigo General, and Pe$o. We traveled all the way to Baltimore and D.C. to perform with our extended family, Tew World Order. We were joined by Bucky Malone and Lord Noble Naga who also had a dope set as well. It was an intimate show, but the people we brought to the show really popped out for us. I believe the NYC gang had the most people in the building, which is definitely something to be proud of. We even had someone reach out to us randomly trying to vendor the event lol. I was like oh, we like that haha. It definitely was a fun weekend and I hope to do something like this again in the near future, I just need LABEL MONEY HAHA!
Dining With Obas
Smiles and laughs is all I can ask for these holidays. DJ 500k and I went once more up to Colgate University to host another Dining with Obas. Students and faculty members were engaged through the event as they were dancing, singing, and playing games. Hosting these college night events were just a trial. You can expect me to do this more and more come 2024! Thank you Tiffany Simmons for giving me a lane to grow my business.
Looking Forward to 2024
2024 is titled, “Fall Into A Void”. Fall Into A Void is about diving into the bottom of the well known as creativity and staying there with all my fears and ambitions. I realized in 2023 that I need to fall into a deeper love of the process. I was frustrated that a ton of things within the music space wasn’t going for me. My resume was tossed around 6 times in the BMI office, and I didn’t get the job. My idea of a kid’s focused album for a company I emcee was stolen, and now is distributed through Universal Music Group. The hardest one was almost losing one of my best friends due to health and not appreciating the art we had created. It definitely felt as if I was failing the art and the process of inspiring people since the world of money . Giving people a smile through the things I did will always give more gratification than a raise or a new job.
2024, I will continue to curate events including movie nights and All For The Music. release a short tv series exclusive on Tivid TV and my book, and feature in a short film called “Or Elsewhere”. I am very excited for what is to come. Here is the trailer to the short film. I know you will enjoy it like I did myself. Get ready for a really fun 2024 and a new break. Happy New Year Everyone!
